Statement

I am not reproducing reality in my paintings to how they appear in real life; rather I am creating a new reality, one that goes past the confines of photography and into a hyperreality that can only be possible through the medium of painting. My subject matter is focused on automobiles, as I find their materials comprising of glass and metal a complex but captivating surfaces to paint. I work referencing from many photographs for each painting and improve upon the working photographs so that everything in my paintings harmonises together in an idealisation of how I personally want the painting to develop. My paintings emulate the photographic source yet are far more personal as each object has been painted meticulously with a great deal of human passion.
